Now let’s get into the details.

Availability

As we can see from the table above, AYPO and VanEd are not as widely available as you might have hoped. So if you’re not from any of the states they serve, then you should look for another school.

But what states are these schools available in?

Let’s list them down.

For AYPO, they offer pre-licensing courses in 6 states, namely:

  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Texas

As for exam prep, AYPO caters to only 5 states:

  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • Texas

Since it offers CE courses to most states, let’s list down the states that do NOT have availability:

  • Idaho
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico

As for VanEd, it offers its pre-licensing course to 14 states. These are:

  • Alabama
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • New York
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Washington

And these are the states with available CE courses:

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Washington

Finally, here are the states available for exam prep and post-licensing courses:

  • Alabama (post-licensing)
  • Colorado (exam prep)
  • Florida (both)
  • Georgia (post-licensing)
  • Nebraska (both)
  • Oklahoma (both)
  • Texas (both)
  • Virginia (exam prep)

NOTE: just because these courses are available in a state does NOT mean it is approved. Please make sure the school is approved where you live before enrolling.

Course Options

The best online real estate schools offer students with various course options. This makes it easier for students to find what they need in a single place.

On top of that, it encourages more people to enroll in that particular institution.

AYPO offers courses for aspiring real estate agents and mortgage loan originators (MLOs). Course levels range from pre-licensing to continuing education. You can also find exam prep programs on the platform.

VanEd is slightly different when it comes to the course options it offers. You can find everything from pre-licensing to continuing education to exam prep. The difference is that it also has post-licensing courses.

What’s more, it has available courses for appraisers, too.

User Experience and Features

One of the most important factors that make a great online real estate school is its user experience.

Students usually look for engagement in the lessons, especially since it’s an online course. The interface should be straightforward and easy to navigate, too.

Finally, organized layouts make the lessons easier to follow.

That said, let’s look at the user experience and features of AYPO and VanEd one by one.

AYPO User Experience and Features

AYPO is great in that it has a mobile app. You can access it on any device, whether that’s your laptop, phone, or tablet. With this, you can study your lessons while, say, commuting.

Another thing is that AYPO makes its lessons interactive, so as not to make students bored. It has quizzes, videos, and images to help students understand and retain information better.

Additionally, in some states, there are even audio versions of its courses, effectively meeting varying student preferences. If you’re an auditory learner, then this is great news for you.

But, on the flip side, students noticed that there were a few grammatical errors. Plus, some students even say that the platform is outdated.

VanEd User Experience and Features

One of the things students like about VanEd is that it easily meets all the aforementioned requirements of a great real estate school.

It even brings a few extra benefits to the table, including features like:

  • Flexible payment plans
  • Specialized teachers
  • Free e-books and workbooks
  • Interactive quizzes and exams
  • Flashcards
  • Instructor Q&A sessions
  • Pass or don’t pay guarantee

Nevertheless, there are some things that we wished VanEd offered. For instance, a mobile app will make it easier for students to access their courses on the go.

Some students also don’t appreciate how long it takes the customer support team to answer questions and concerns. It took them nearly 48 hours to answer an email – its live chat and call support were not any better.

Pricing

As you might expect, course prices vary depending on the type of course and location. In other words, real estate agents enrolling from Texas may have to pay different prices from those enrolling in Florida.

To give you an idea, let’s look at the prices for pre-licensing in Texas and Florida.

AYPO Real Estate VanEd Real Estate
Texas:$149 – $249 Texas:$495 – $550 – $799
Florida:$80 – $199 Florida: $119 – $159 – $249

For Texas and Florida pre-licensing, you can see that AYPO comes out cheaper. However, VanEd does offer regular discounts, plus a payment plan.

And also, VanEd has a bit more option, with 3 packages available to AYPO’s 2 packages.
