The Top 4 Online Real Estate Schools In Florida

Requirements To Obtain A Real Estate License In Florida Online

In the state of Florida, anyone can choose to take their real estate license course online or in a physical classroom. It’s your choice! However, before pursuing your real estate license in Florida, it does pay to know the requirements of having your application accepted. The requirements to obtain your real estate license in Florida includes the following:

  • Must be 18 years of age – Like most states within the United States, Florida expects all prospective real estate license applicants to be at least 18 years of age. For young people graduating high school soon and looking for a new career field that doesn’t require a 2 or 4-year traditional degree, this can serve as a great option.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent – Before registering for your real estate license in Florida required coursework, one must have a high school diploma or equivalent degree if they wish to have their application accepted.
  • Have a United States social security number – A United States social security number is required to begin coursework and apply for your real estate license in Florida.
  • Complete your training – Obtaining a real estate license in Florida requires you to complete 63 course credit hours from an approved online coursework program within 2 years of submitting your application.
  • Pass your exam – Upon completion of your 63 course credit hours, you will then be expected to take and pass a board exam. This exam must be passed with a score of 75 out of 100 or higher in order to have your real estate license in Florida application approved.
  • Get fingerprinted – A fingerprinting and background check is then necessary in order to have your application approved. The fingerprinting process will cost around $89 and will need to be submitted along with your initial real estate license in Florida application.

Going The Online Route For Your Real Estate License In Florida

Going the online route to earn your real estate license in Florida is a great option. It provides you with flexibility in your learning and schedule and gives you a way to embark on a new career field right from the comfort of your own home. The steps you must take in order to earn your real estate license in Florida online include:

Find an accredited program – Finding an accredited online program is the most important step you will take in earning your real estate license in Florida online. Only an accredited program will be recognized by the state and national board and will allow you to take the final exam and submit a successful application. Once you have found the accredited online program of your choice, you will then complete the 63 required course credit hours which will then be valid for 2 years after completion. If you do not submit your application within that 2 years, you will need to complete the course a second time. Here are the programs I recommend most:

Apply – After you’re finished with your 63 credit hours from an accredited online real estate license training program, you can then apply online to receive your real estate license in Florida and begin prepping for your final exam. Electronic fingerprints will need to be obtained in person at one of the licensing exam centers within the state, but the rest of the application process can be completed online.

Take your test – Taking your real estate license exam is what you’ve been preparing for as you’ve gone through your online real estate license school. In order to obtain your real estate license in Florida, you need to take your exam with Pearson VUE and take your test at one of their testing centers throughout the state of Florida. Unfortunately, this portion can’t be done online.

Activate your license – After passing your real estate license exam in Florida and having your application accepted, your license will be considered inactive. You must activate your license after approval in order to begin practicing as a real estate agent within the state of Florida. Activating your license can be completed online.

Continuing Education For Real Estate License In Florida

Even after you finish your coursework, your exam, and your application is approved and active, you’re still not finished with meeting various requirements to maintain your real estate license in Florida. The state of Florida requires all real estate licenses to be renewed every 2 years, and the rules that apply for your continuing education in your first year are different from those you will follow in subsequent years.

Before renewing your license for your first time, you’ll need to complete a 45 credit hour post-licensure course.

This course, like your initial coursework, will need to be completed at an accredited program and can be done entirely online. Finding an accredited online program that can take you through your pre-licensure, into your post-licensure, and carry you throughout your career with online flexibility is always ideal. After that first year, you will only be required to complete 14 hours of continuing education every 2 years in order to keep your license active and in good standing.

With the exception of the application exam and fingerprinting processes, nearly all of the requirements to obtain a real estate license in Florida can be completed in a flexible online setting. This benefit of modern technology to the real estate field is allowing more and more individuals to pursue a career in real estate at any point in their lives, and they are able to do so from the comfort of their own homes and without disrupting already busy schedules or taking time away from family.
