Most online marketing efforts are usually spent on managing your ad campaigns and generating leads. However, writing a real estate bio is a necessary yet underlooked factor. 

Because real estate is a tough competition, you have to create an image that stands out amongst everyone else. You have to advertise yourself as the most competent and trustworthy facilitator to do business with.

First and foremost, a bio should talk a bit about your background. Potential clients are interested in how and why you got into real estate, and why you are to be trusted over other agents in your area.

You’ve got to rope them in. A bio that exudes a passion for everything real estate. Give them a brief introduction to why you joined the industry, your experience in it, and the areas you specialize in. 

You can also point out your connection to the community and any organizations you’re a part of to lend credibility to your intro.

What’s more, this allows you to talk about yourself, apart from real estate, which helps give a sense of your personality and whether clients will be happy to work with you.

For example, you may go into your love of animals and how you’re a part-time volunteer at your local animal shelter. 

Regardless of what it is, you should aim to be truthful and present your personality in the best way possible. Though you will score some brownie points if it connects with why you’re into real estate in the first place.

This will affect the information you include in your bio, and how you present it.

For example, if you specialize in dealing with luxury properties, you’ve got to strike a tone that portrays greater formality. The third person approach might work best at describing yourself and your achievements to your potential clients.

You may also want to focus more on individual high-value deals you’ve closed, or go into the high-end areas you’ve worked in to create greater trust. Any real estate organizations you’re a part of, or extra educational courses or certifications should be mentioned, too.

However, if you’re appealing to a wider population, such as offering affordable homes to young couples, you may consider using the first-person approach. Be a bit informal to make them feel at ease. 

In this approach, you should go into your activities in the community and your background in more depth. This shows your commitment and friendliness. 

Keep it Brief

If there’s one thing for sure, nobody likes reading long, blocks of text on the screen. Much more if it’s full of useless information. 

So a helpful tip is to keep it brief. Ideally, 200-300 words are good enough to keep people’s attention while still going over all the important information. 

You might also want to create a short version for your social media platforms that act as an even briefer version of your bio.

It goes without saying that both versions should be similar, going over the same aspects to avoid confusion.

Write About What Makes You Different

In the sea of agent bios out there, you’ve got to craft a unique one that makes you stand out. So while templates may be a way to gain a bit of insight, you should try to form your flow and style instead of replicating cookie-cutter posts.

In your bio, focus on ways to show off your unique personality and background, going into certain events that motivated you to start a career in real estate or that have shaped your career thus far.

Creating a unique bio increases the chance that potential clients will fully read, instead of getting bored by a bland writing style that they’ve already read a thousand times.

If you’re finding it hard to describe yourself while keeping to the word limit, you could tag your social media pages to let leads get a better understanding of who you are and the activities you’re involved in.

This offers a great way to provide your leads a better window into what it would be like to work with you, and how you’ve got their best interests in mind.

Real Estate Bio Template Example

As I mentioned, you have to make your bio different. That said, there’s nothing wrong with getting inspiration from a template example. 

So here’s one that may help you:

[YOUR NAME] was raised and brought up in [LOCATION]. Graduating from [YOUR HIGH SCHOOL/UNI], [YOUR EXPERIENCE] led to [YOUR NAME] pursuing a career in real estate. With an undying passion for real estate [YOUR NAME] has completed [YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS/EDUCATIONAL COURSES]. Combined with  [YOUR SKILLS], has allowed [YOUR NAME] to meet the needs of a wide range of different clients

Apart from helping homeowners make the right choices [YOUR NAME] is active in the community, with an interest in [YOUR HOBBIES/GROUPS/COMMUNITY SERVICE].

Of course, this is just one example out of the many.  If you want it to be more personal, you can find other examples. Or you can create your own completely from scratch.
