Washington Online Real Estate Continuing Education FAQS
What are the CE requirements for first-time real estate license renewal in Washington?
If it’s your first license renewal, you must complete at least 90 hours of continuing education as per WAC 308-124A-785. This should include:
- 30-hour Advanced Practices Course
- 30-hour Real Estate Law Course
- 3-hours of Core Course
- At least 27 hours of CE Elective Courses
Note: if you take CE courses before the date of your first licensure, the hours covered won't be credited for your first license renewal. So make sure you enroll in these CE classes AFTER you get your real estate license.
What are the CE requirements for second and subsequent real estate license renewal in Washington?
For your second and subsequent license renewal, you must complete at least 30 hours of continuing education as per WAC 308–124A–790. This should include:
- Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate Course (3 hours)
- at least 27 hours CE Elective Courses
Note: At least 15 hours of these courses must be completed within 2 years of your renewal date. The rest (15 hours of unused CE courses) can be completed within 4 years of your renewal date. So if you happen to take more than the required CE course on your last renewal, you can use it to cover for the required hours on your next renewal as long as it’s within that four-years window.
When should I submit a license renewal application in Washington?
WA real estate license expires every 2 years for real estate brokers. You can apply for renewal 120 days before expiration. However, you have to submit everything, including CE credits, by the expiration date.
Conclusion
Finding the right school to take your CE courses is worth the time and effort.
But if you don’t have time to do the research, then these 5 online real estate schools mentioned here are certainly the best of the best in Washington.
If you’ve read through our list, you’ll find schools that only offer subsequent renewal packages and those that offer a package for first-time renewals, too.
You’ll find course options in video format and text format. There’s even an option for PDF correspondence if that’s what you like.
